Toy trends for Sinterklaas 2026: this is what’s on the wish lists

Oct 14, 2026 | Cadeautips | Sinterklaas | trends

What is on this year's wish lists? We compared major 2026 market figures with what we actually sell in our webshop and our warehouse in Zonhoven. Remarkably: we see the trends from the international reports reflected almost one-to-one in our customers' preferences.

1. Collectible figures and blind boxes

This is the biggest trend of the moment. According to market researcher Circana, sales of collectible toys grew by 32% worldwide in 2025, and they now account for almost one-fifth of all toy sales. Blind boxes were also one of the most important trends for 2026 at the Spielwarenmesse, the largest toy fair in the world.

At Little Thingz: Sonny Angel is our best-selling brand of 2026, with over 800 figures sold. Smiski, the Monchhichi Hippers, and the cheerful Clickeez are also doing remarkably well. The exciting moment of opening them makes them perfect for the shoe.

2. Building, especially magnetic

According to Circana, building sets are the most popular toy category in Europe, and their sales grew by 18% in 2025. With us, we see magnetic building toys scoring particularly well: Connetix and Magna-Tiles are being searched for extensively on Google, and the small travel sets from Magna-Tiles occupy four places in our top 20 of the past month.

3. Games for the whole family

Games and puzzles grew by a staggering 30% in 2025, the strongest growth of all categories according to Circana. Families are consciously looking for screen-free moments. The juries of the 2026 Toy of the Year awards also chose a remarkable number of games: in Belgium, the public prize went to Plush-o-Mat by Haba, and in the Netherlands, Tiptoe Dino won in the children's games category.

4. Quiet and creative play

One of the trends spotted at the Spielwarenmesse 2026 is "creative mindfulness": toys that help children calm down and focus on creating. Think of clay, drawing, and listening instead of watching.

  • Faba+ storyteller (€69.90): stories and songs without a screen, and one of our most popular gifts.
  • Kidywolf Kidydraw Pro (€39.90): illuminated drawing board to learn how to draw step-by-step.
  • Hey Clay (from €5): air-drying clay with an app that explains how to make figures.

5. Soft toys with character

Jellycat remains the most searched-for brand in our webshop, with hundreds of thousands of impressions on Google. The funny Amuseables, such as plushies in the shape of food, are extremely popular with both children and adults.

Bonus: toys are not just for children

According to Circana, nearly 40% of European consumers bought toys for themselves or another adult in 2025. We recognize this: Sonny Angel, Smiski, and the mice from Maileg are also frequently bought by adult collectors. So, are you still looking for a gift for the teacher, the godmother, or yourself? Then you know where to go.

How to choose smartly

  1. Combine one trendy gift with something that lasts, such as building toys or a good game.
  2. Let your child make a wish list. This ensures you know what they like, and you get 10% of the purchases back as a voucher.
  3. Order popular figures in time: new series sell out quickly in November.
