History: The steam train was developed in the early 19th century and was one of the most important factors in the development of not only the world at that time, but also the identity of the United States. Trains provided faster transport of trade goods, people, information, and raw materials than the world had ever seen at that time. Since then, we have developed and perfected trains as a mode of travel and transport, and despite the invention and rise of aviation, trains remain a vital part of our civilization today!
